What is ASCP?
The ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) is an independent agency that awards certificates to the entire world; U.S. and international candidates.
It offers more than 20 certificates and conducts exams every year for all its certifications, including ASCP technologist and specialist in cytology.
The ASCP BOC has made many modifications to its profiles and examination format because it always chooses the candidates who deserve its certification.
It has awarded more than 610,000 certifications to lab professionals who belong to different categories of medical lab fields.
Understanding the ASCP Cytology Certification
The ASCP Board of Certification presents two certificates for the cytology field: CT ASCP and SCT ASCP.
Both of these certificates go to U.S. and international candidates.
For U.S. candidates, the certificate name is CT (ASCP) and SCT (ASCP), while for international candidates; it is CT (ASCPi) and SCT (ASCPi).
The power of ASCP cytology certifications is the same for both U.S. and international candidates, but the ASCP cytology specialist certificate is more powerful than the ASCP cytology technologist certification.
